10 days… and so far to go

It’s just 10 days away – the day that will dramatically change my life for the better. I feel like I have gone back in time to the days when I was 5 or 6 and having or being a “best-friend” was so terribly important. There was always one cool kid in a group that other kids would always ask who HIS best friend was. That’s because the one asking the cool kid who his best friend was wanted to be validated as cool in front of his peers by having the cool kid pick him.

Well, the cool kid is picking me on March 17th. I hope many of you get to see it.

In other news, I’m moving into my apartment on Friday morning Lord willing. It’s going to be nice (loft ceilings, fireplace, pool, tennis, weight room, etc.) but dealing with the front office is a pain in the neck. I have my eye on something else once my lease is up so pray it becomes available at the right time.

So much to do, so little time… life is busy but good because God is good. Real good. Talk to you later friends, I’m going to go talk to my best friend!

Scheduled Update

It’s been a looong while since I have updated this thing and it’s not because I haven’t had anything going on. Since the last post I have:

  • Turned the ripe old age of 26
  • Finalized honeymoon plans
  • Had a fantastic Christmas
  • Purchased wedding ring
  • Spent countless hours on the internet searching for an apartment
  • Found a nice apartment
  • Found a better apartment
  • Learned that the better apartment will not be available for some time because it has been occupied since Christmas by a dear mother-in-law who had a nervous breakdown
  • Settled on the first apartment option and paid out the whazoo to get it but learned that we will get the third-floor apt. with loft ceilings, fireplace, washer dryer hookups, and sunroom.
  • Attended marriage counseling sessions with Julia and her pastor (The verdict is that we are a “vitalized couple!” I don’t make it up. I just report the facts.)
  • Attended my first wedding shower ever – It was for me!!! (It seems kind of wrong to receive a bunch of nice stuff from people who give gifts to celebrate your already good fortune. It really is having your cake and eating it too!)
  • Got my first traffic ticket ($125) because a fuse had blown and my taillights were out. (I’m still upset over this)
  • Read many interesting and insightful books I didn’t know existed (and I won’t tell you what they are J)
  • Celebrated my last Valentines day as a single person
  • Fallen even more incredibly in love with Julia

There’s more to be sure that has happened but I haven’t the mental energy to process anything else. Can’t wait to see so many of you at the wedding! It’s just 30 days, 17 hours, and 40 minutes away!

In Him,

Christmas and travel

I am off to Dallas, TX tomorrow morning to spend the weekend with Julia and her family! J. Marty has his big Christmas cantata this Sunday and we are going to support him and enjoy the performance.

I thought should also post a short Christmas greeting for all my friends to enjoy. Click here for my personalized Christmas card to each of you!

I think of you all often.

All is well in the world

Greetings world,

You are reading the post of one of the most fulfilled men in the world right now, and it is because God has been mighty on my behalf. Looking back from Verity graduation in May until this day, I am able to see the sovereignty of God at work for my good. Proverbs 16:9 says, “The mind of man plans his way, but the LORD directs his steps.” And definitely the Lord’s thoughts are higher than my thoughts, and His way infinitely greater than my way because of His holiness and His perspective seeing eternity future from eternity past.

God has far exceeded my plans and expectations, providing me with a new job that is fun and challenging in the new skills it requires; I am engaged to a woman of character, integrity, wit, humor, beauty, grace, and good taste – WAY more than I thought God would ever bless me with; and God is meeting me in His word and providing direction and conformation in the everyday mundane details and needs of life.

It’s an irony now that I have so much to tell people about what is happening in my life, I can hardly find the time to call friends or update my blog. But friends, know you haven’t been forgotten… I just don’t like whispering “sweet nothings” in your ear like I do someone else J.

Pray for me, because I pray for you. 120 days!

Julia's Birthday

I, being the kind and considerate person that I am, thought it would be good to let everybody know that the most important person in my life has a birthday today! Julia Cope is another year older, a little wiser, and more beautiful than ever today. Leave a comment for her here or on her xanga  to wish her a happy birthday.
